Guardians of the Green

Guardians of the Green
Guardians of the Green was a video game designed by me and three other students in my Cornerstone of Engineering class in the Fall of 2023. The purpose of the project was to design an educational and engaging video game for elementary age children.

My contributions include the following. First, I was tasked with designing a 3D printed Arduino compatible joystick for navigation through the games landscape on SolidWorks. This was done in two separate pieces, first the base of the joystick that attached the original Arduino board, and second the spherical handle that was glued on top. The CAD for the base of the joystick is pictured above, as well as the final product. Second, I designed the 3D tree for the base of the video game on AutoCAD. The purpose of this tree was to house LED strip lights that would light up in various ways depending on the players action on the game. I had to design a tree that would fit the LED lights appropriately around it.

In addition to the components I designed, I also designed the video game graphics on Canva, as pictured above. This involved designing the video games character and main theme, as well as writing all of the introductory script and instructions. Lastly, I was also in charge of painting and decorating the video game as seen above.

This project helped me hone in my AutoCAD and SolidWorks design skills, as well my graphic design experience. Additionally, it demonstrates my ability to collaborate on a team long-term to create a final product.
